For all we know, Kawhi Leonard’s NBA career may be on pause yet again. We hate to say that. Yet, it’s the truth. Recently, it’s been revealed that Leonard is dealing with another serious injury.
At some point, something may have to give. Leonard can’t stay healthy. It doesn’t matter how valuable he is when he’s on the floor if he can seldom get on the floor.
With that in mind, this summer could represent a buy-low opportunity for suitors. If someone wants to make a move for Kawhi, let him rehab for a year, and aim to contend for 2024-25, they could acquire Leonard this summer.
Any trade involving Leonard must come with significant risk tolerance and a sense of patience. He is going to miss a significant amount of games during a given season and now he’s dealing with a major injury once again.
This year’s NBA playoffs are a great crash course into the Leonard experience. He looks like the NBA’s best player for a few games and helps to lead the Clippers to a series lead; then he gets shut down by the medical staff midway through with a mysterious injury designation.
Could the Portland Trail Blazers be the team?
