Recently the NBA announced that they have levied a suspension against Miles Bridges. He will be suspended 10 games during the 2023-24 season, should he sign with a team by then, without pay because of some off-the-court issues that he ran into in 2022.

The suspension was going to be for 30 games, but the league gave him time served. Miles Bridges sat out the entire 2022-23 season as he remained unsigned after the Charlotte Hornets extended him a qualifying offer.

League commissioner Adam Silver revealed what went into the process of figuring out how long he would be suspended and how they came up with the time served. Being sidelined for the entire season and not being paid played a big part.

“The process (with Bridges) was that we worked with his representatives and the players association that he sat out the entire season,” Silver said. “And so we felt, on the balance, that because he had sat out an entire season and not been paid for an entire season, that we thought in fairness that would give him partial credit, I think, for having sat out that season.”

On November 3rd, Miles Bridges pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge for injuring a child’s parent. As part of his sentencing, he was given three years of probation but avoided having to serve time in jail.

While Miles Bridges is not currently signed to a team, per CBA that is in place, the league has the right to levy punishment against him if he signs with a team. So, should any franchise sign him this offseason, he will have to miss the first 10 games of the season before being eligible to play.
