Following another year of missing the playoffs, many in the NBA are wondering if this is the offseason where Damian Lillard finally moves on from the Portland Trail Blazers. At 32 years old, he has minimal time left to compete for a championship at his peak.
Before getting shut down, Damian Lillard was one of the top guards in the NBA. In 58 games this season, he averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists. It’s also worth noting that Lillard could be under contract through the 2026-27 season.
During a recent appearance on the YES Network, Frank Isola and Chris Shearn discussed possible teams that could be interested in Lillard if he were to request a trade. The list consisted of mainly some of the middle-tier teams in the Eastern Conference right now.
“Damian Lillard is a big-time player and I think he’s gonna be on the move. I think he’s gonna end up in the Eastern Conference. You wanna look at Miami, you wanna look at Atlanta, you wanna look at Philadelphia, you wanna look at Toronto, you wanna look at the Brooklyn Nets… I think all those teams are gonna go after Damian Lillard.”

One team on that list that could certainly make a run for Lillard is the Miami Heat. They have the pieces to get a deal of this magnitude done and are always in the mix when a star becomes unhappy. Pairing him alongside Jimmy Butler would give them a formidable duo come playoff time.
The Philadelphia could also be a team to watch, depending on how things unfold for them this summer. James Harden has the option to become an unrestricted free agent, and there’ve been a ton of rumors about him going back to the Houston Rockets. If that does end up happening, Daryl Morey will certainly be interested in adding another superstar trade to his resumé.
