It is not unusual for two NBA teams with different needs to engage in a trade. In some cases, that may mean trading players at positions where they are most needed.
It is logical to trade a point guard with another team if one team has two starting caliber point guards and the other team needs a point guard.
In addition, teams may be in different positions at the same time. It is possible, for instance, that one team may want to take a step forward, while another may want to start over from scratch. Those are also the kinds of teams which make a good trade partner.
There is a possibility that the Detroit Pistons are looking to take a step forward this summer. Conversely, the Portland Trail Blazers might be looking to start a rebuilding process in the near future.
There is a possibility that these teams could make a trade together if this is the case.
