After falling just short of going up 3-1 against the Golden State Warriors, things are getting worse for the Sacramento Kings as they holding major NBA playoff hopes.
ESPN’s Adrain Wojnarowski recently reported that De’Aaron Fox fractured a finger on his shooting hand, which could affect his status for Game 5. As of now, he is currently being listed as doubtful.
It goes without saying how big of a blow this is for the Kings. Fox is one of their top players, and they’ll need him if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. Through the first four games of the series, he is averaging 31.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 2.5 steals. There is a chance that Fox can take the floor in Game 5, but he’ll need to wear a protective cover on his injured finger.
Fox can now be added to the long list of star players that have been injured in the early games of this postseason. He joins Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the sidelines for their respective teams.
NBA NEWS & PLAYOFFS: De’Aaron Fox, Sacramento Kings & Golden State Warriors Updates
After playing so well in the regular season, this is not how anyone wants to see this play out for the Kings. They’ve finally managed to end their record-setting playoff drought and have the defending champions on the ropes. Having it all come crashing down due to injury would be a tough blow to the Kings and their fans.
No matter what the status is for Fox moving forward, the Kings will have to embrace the next man up mentality. If he is unable to play in Game 5, it will be on the supporting cast to keep their playoff aspirations alive. Two players that will likely be called on to do more if Fox is out are Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter.
