Are the Los Angeles Lakers serious NBA title contenders this season? It’s difficult to say.

On the one hand, they may not even beat the Memphis Grizzlies. The lower-seeded Lakers aren’t exactly favorites in the first round. 

On the other hand, this team features LeBron James. It also features Anthony Davis. If they won an NBA championship, it wouldn’t exactly shock anybody. 

It remains to be seen. If the Lakers make a deep playoff run, they may not make major changes this summer.

If they don’t, who knows what could happen? They have received underwhelming play in the postseason from D’Angelo Russell thus far. Perhaps a change at point guard could be in order.

Could they acquire Fred VanVleet in a sign-and-trade this summer?
