That’s also why they’re trading these distant picks. The Pacers are giving themselves a deadline here. They’ll be angling to get back to the postseason by 2025 at the latest. 

Adding LaVine should help them get there. In fact, he’ll make for a dynamic backcourt pairing with Tyrese Haliburton. A born distributor and a natural scorer should make for a perfect pair. 

If the Pacers have any reservations here, it’ll be due to LaVine’s overlap with Benedict Mathurin. We’re not concerned.
