In fact, the timing of this suggestion is a bit off. The Atlanta Hawks just beat the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament. 

With that in mind, if the Hawks make a deep playoff run, they’ll want to reevaluate the possibility of moving Young. On the other hand, if they don’t, this is likely to remain an option. 

In that event, this would be a good return. Given Young’s reputation and defensive limitations, three first-round picks feels like a fair deal for him.

The Hawks are getting one more in this transaction for taking on Simmons’ contract.

As for the Brooklyn Nets, they need an offensive centerpiece. Young is one of the best playmakers in the NBA. What’s more, they’ve got the defensive players they need to cover for his limitations.
