There’s a popular saying among NBA fans these days: “You can never have enough playmaking”.
In a vacuum, that’s true. Having multiple playmakers on the floor will keep a defense guessing. The more ways a team can attack, the stronger they’re likely to be.
With that said, teams need players with secondary skills as well. Playmakers can have a diminishing return if they can’t shoot or defend. There’s only one ball, after all.
The Atlanta Hawks may have learned that lesson this season. They acquired Dejounte Murray to offset Trae Young’s poor defense.
Unfortunately, Murray’s poor shooting has made them a generally questionable fit.
Could they replace Murray with Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards this summer?
