When we think about the NBA offseason, we rarely consider sign-and-trade situations.
That’s reasonable enough. A sign-and-trade has to work for all parties. If a player is a free agent, they’re free to walk. They don’t have to help the team they’re leaving.
Still, a sign-and-trade remains a possibility. If your team has an impending free agent, it’s entirely possible that they’ll get you a return. All hope is not lost.
For example, look at Fred VanVleet of the Toronto Raptors. He’s a free agent this summer.
He may simply choose to sign with another team.
Here’s a sign-and-trade situation that has him landing with the Miami Heat instead.
