Some things in life just feel inevitable. In the NBA, the Portland Trail Blazers trading Damian Lillard is one of those things. Could it happen this summer?

The writing has been on the wall. You’ve got it memorized. Whatever it is that you’ve been anticipating, you know it’s coming. 

For the last couple of years, it’s been difficult not to assume that the Trail Blazers aren’t going to do it. It’s simply a matter of when, especially given how poorly they’ve played since the NBA All-Star break — to the point of having to tank.

Meanwhile, it feels similarly inevitable that the New York Knicks will trade for a star.

This team has been stockpiling draft capital and contracts for a reason. Eventually, they’ll unload their clip.
