Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

Sure, Kuzma has been thriving since the Westbrook deal. We can’t say the same for the Lakers. 

Some observers saw this coming. Westbrook’s ball dominance was always a poor fit alongside James. The Lakers have gradually declined since making that deal. 

With that said, they took steps to fix the issues at this year’s deadline. Westbrook is gone, and D’Angelo Russell is in his place. This Lakers team has a better roster construction, but they could use more talent. 

That’s why they’re making a win-now trade here. Kuzma has developed into the type of player who could realistically be the third option behind James and Anthony Davis.
