In all likelihood, they’re also pushing D’Angelo Russell out of town. Unless he’s willing to take a team-friendly deal, the Lakers won’t have enough cap space to retain him in free agency if they acquire LaVine. 

It’s worth it. Simply put, LaVine is, by far, the best offensive player in this deal – and better than Russell.
