Of course, there is another complicating factor in all of this. His name is Kyrie Irving. 

If the Mavericks lose him in free agency, would Doncic demand a trade? Or, is it possible that Doncic hasn’t enjoyed playing with Irving? Who can say?

Either way, let’s imagine a scenario where the Mavericks retain Irving, and Doncic demands a trade anyway. In that event, this is an interesting deal.

A core group of Irving, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro is almost certain to keep the Mavericks in the playoffs.

With that said, even without Irving, this is a solid return. The Mavericks are landing two stars (and two first-round picks) at the price of a bigger one. 

With that said, one wonders if they could flip Doncic for a fellow superstar.
