It’s been said that two in the hand are worth more than one in the bush. NBA teams need to ask themselves those questions all the time.
In other words, take the sure thing. Gambling on something that might be great isn’t advisable if it means giving up something that you know is good. On the other hand, some would consider that loser talk.
Realistically, it depends on what you have in your hand, and what you think might be in the bush.
They may gamble on the upside in favor of what they currently have.
Just take the New York Knicks. They’ve got a pair of fine players in RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson. With that said, the former doesn’t seem to be on pace to reach superstardom. Meanwhile, the latter seems to want to leave the team.
Could they flip them both for Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks?
