As far as draft capital is concerned, these teams are in very different positions.
The Lakers have got next to none left. They might as well empty their clip. By contrast, the Nets have been developing an impressive collection.
They might as well continue adding to it. Sure, this only grants them swap rights. That still makes this pick more valuable. In all likelihood, the Nets will eventually be looking to package it with other picks for a star player.
In the meantime, Beasley is still a productive player. He’s not as useful as Johnson on the defensive end, and he’s not quite as accurate from long-range.
