Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
Well, this deal is unlikely to make the Heat better next season. They’re losing the best player in it.
For Miami, this is about the future. At the same time, it doesn’t have them tanking, either. A core trio of McCollum, Tyler Herro, and Bam Adebayo ought to keep them in the postseason.
Still, this is a nice future-focused package. Daniels has immense potential. He’s a combo guard/wing with excellent floor vision and defensive chops. Throw in two first-round picks and a swap, and the Heat’s outlook gets brighter.
In other words, this has them splitting the difference between rebuilding and contending.
