The Milwaukee Bucks are having another incredible season as they currently own the best record in the NBA at 47-18. They look poised to make another deep run into the postseason after winning the NBA Finals in 2021 and getting eliminated in the second round in 2022.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo playing at the level which he is, the Bucks are legitimate contenders once again. He will be in the running for his third MVP award as he is stuffing the stat sheet on a nightly basis.

While he is locked into playing for the Bucks for the foreseeable future, there are some people already looking ahead at what could be on the horizon. Antetokounmpo has two more guaranteed seasons on his contract before a player option for the 2025-26 season when he will be 31 years old.

It is early to make any kind of predictions, but it would be surprising if he didn’t opt out of that contract. It could be the last time he is able to sign a lucrative multi-year deal in his career and players always want to maximize their earnings.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks & New York Knicks Updates

Is there a chance that Antetokounmpo could leave the Bucks at that point? An NBA executive that spoke to NBA Analysis Network believes there is certainly a chance of it as the supporting cast around the Greek Freak could start changing as early as this offseason.

“After winning a ring with the Bucks, there isn’t a sense of unfinished business if Giannis was to ever leave for somewhere else. … There isn’t much upside to the team they have now. Jrue Holiday has been great next to him, but is there enough beyond him long-term? Brook Lopez is old, and who knows how much he has left in the tank? Khris Middleton has struggled to stay healthy, he’s a free agent this summer and will be 32 this summer. A new beginning would make sense.”

The question that naturally comes next is, where would Antetokounmpo end up? The NBA executive had an answer for that as well. The bright lights of New York City and playing for the New York Knicks is the buzz that they are hearing.

“The Knicks are a team that people around the league have heard that Giannis is eyeing if he was to leave the Bucks. The ability to play in an iconic market with the ability to recruit could appeal to him. Being on the East Coast also makes it easy to get to Europe during the offseason.”

The Knicks have been patiently waiting for the chance to pounce on a star player. They thought they had Donovan Mitchell locked up this past offseason, but he was traded by the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

New York has been no worse for the wear as they are having one of the best seasons in recent franchise history. They have already surpassed last season’s win total and are on pace to finish above the .500 mark for only the fifth time this decade.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks & New York Knicks Updates

After years of being a laughing stock, the Knicks are a desirable landing spot for players once again. Jalen Brunson has been one of the best free agent signings ever and Julius Randle has returned to All-NBA level production. With a cache of young players and draft capital, the Knicks are in a great position to woo a player of Antetokounmpo’s caliber to the franchise to take things to that next level.
