A look at the standings inspires disbelief. If you’d told someone two years ago that today that the Lakers and Warriors would be where they currently are, they’d be shocked. 

That holds especially true for the Lakers. At 30-33, this team is due to missing the playoffs. In fact, as the 11th seed in the Western Conference, they’re at risk of missing the play-in tournament altogether. 

The same can’t be said for the Warriors. At 33-30, their playoff spot is likely to secure. Still, being the fifth seed and this close to .500 doesn’t look great on the defending champions.
