Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

The Knicks will want to see how far they can advance this season before they make this deal. If they make a deep playoff run, they’ll want to think twice. 

Let’s assume that they don’t. If the Knicks get eliminated in the first or second round, they may have to ask themselves some tough questions. How high is this team’s ceiling really? 

It may not be very high at all. If that’s the conclusion, the Knicks may decide they still need to trade a bundle of first-round picks for a star player. In that event, this deal makes sense for them. 

They’re getting one pick here for moving Robinson, and another for taking on Bertans.
