Every team in the NBA has needs. Some of those needs are just more pressing than others. 

The league’s very best teams don’t need much. Perhaps they could use a better third-string point guard or a better tenth man in the event of injuries. Those are needs, but they’re not critical ones. 

Other teams have dire needs. Some teams need to find their franchise player. Others just need to support the one they have. 

For example, look at the Charlotte Hornets. This team has its franchise player.

They just need a center. Mark Williams has had a strong rookie season, but the Hornets could use an upgrade at that position heading into 2023-24. 

Could they go so far as to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves?
