Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
Not entirely. The Wizards could probably get three first-round picks in a different deal – maybe even three and a swap.
On the other hand, they wouldn’t be receiving two proven young players like Barrett and Quickley at the same time.
The Wizards won’t be better in the short term for this deal. They’ll be worse. At the same time, with a little lottery luck, they should have a foundation that allows them to return to relevancy sooner than later.
After all, Barrett has flashed potential as a two-way wing. Quickley is an excellent point-of-attack defender who can get his own buckets in half-court sets.
