
Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard didn’t let off the gas pedal Sunday night in the Blazers’ home victory over the Rockets.
Stat Muse shared some unprecedented records that Lillard accomplished last night on the offensive end. Lillard was the first player to score 70 or more points in under 40 minutes played, had the fewest free throw attempts in a 70-point performance, the first 70-point game that included ten or more three-point makes, had the highest TS% in a 70-point game, and lastly, the oldest player ever to score 70 or more in a game. Lillard is 32 years old.
Damian Lillard ended the night with 71 points, six rebounds, and six assists. He shot 22/38 from the field, 13/22 from three, and had just two turnovers in the game. Altogether, he scored more points than the entire Portland Trail Blazers team combined in the win.
Lillard has joined an elite company. He is now the 8th player in NBA History to drop 70+ points in a game. The Blazers were shorthanded without Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic.

They needed a big-time performance from Dame and got more than that. Lillard is the second player this season to score 71 points. Donovan Mitchell did it earlier in the year for the Cavaliers.
This masterclass performance shows how generational of a talent Lillard really is. The Portland Trail Blazers are in the current playoff hunt with a 29-31 record. However, they will need Lillard to be at his absolute best to be able to withstand their upcoming stretch of games.
