Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal 

The Heat do this deal to avoid that same mediocrity treadmill. 

Surely, this organization entered 2022-23 with ambitions of contending. They haven’t lived up to them. This is a middling NBA team, and at this point in the season, that’s likely who they are. 

The Heat may have reached their ceiling with this core. If the front office agrees, they’d be smart to rebuild. 

This deal gets them off to a great start. They’d be adding Simons, Sharpe and a pair of fist-round picks to a core that already features the young Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.

The Heat don’t have to worry about pairing two scorers in the backcourt either – a Simons/Herro duo only allows Adebayo to continue flourishing in his point center role.
