Why The Sacramento Kings Do The Deal 

Firstly, a caveat. To make this deal work, the Kings would need to let Harrison Barnes walk in free agency. That’ll clear up the cap space they need to make this happen. 

No problem. Go ahead and add Barnes to the outgoing package in theory. It’s still very much a win-now upgrade for the Kings. 

After all, Butler remains one of the best two-way wings in basketball. He’d be joining De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis to form one of the very most talented trios in the NBA. 

It’s hard to picture it. It just doesn’t feel like the Kings could contend for the NBA title. Leave your preconceived notions at the door.
