Yes. The Blazers wouldn’t trade Simons for Hield. Simons is substantially younger, and he’s more talented. That’s why the Blazers get two unprotected first-round picks here.
We’re just not expecting them to use them in the draft. In all likelihood, they’d use these picks in a trade to land another win-now player shortly after.
With that in mind, flipping Simons for Hield makes sense. After all, Simons may be a more dynamic on-ball creator, but Hield is one of the best off-ball players in the NBA.
He’s likely a better complement to Damian Lillard.
