Zach LaVine Doesn’t Hold Back About Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls could not have been happier that the NBA All-Star Break occurred when it did. They were reeling, losing six consecutive games and seven out of their last 10, dropping their record to 26-33 on the season.

That skid also had them plummet in the standings. The Bulls are now in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, on the outside looking in of the NBA Play-In Tournament. They are currently two games behind the Toronto Raptors for 10th place and the final Play-In spot.

The up-and-down performances of the team have left everyone within the organization scratching their head and searching for answers. Zach LaVine certainly did not hold back when assessing what has occurred and believes the results should be better given the talent on the roster.

“I mean, something isn’t working, obviously. Some games, we’re really good. Some days, we’re bad. That’s once again the consistency of figuring out what our identity is and what we’re going to each and every game. Even if guys are in and out of the lieu, you see some teams that have consistency with what they do. They have an identity. I think that’s something we’re still trying to figure out in these last couple of years. Obviously, we changed our offense a little bit this year from last year, but it’s no excuse with the type of talent that we have on the team.”

NBA NEWS: Zach LaVine & Chicago Bulls Updates

There were reports earlier this season that LaVine and DeMar DeRozan were not meshing well on the court. Given how underwhelming the production has been, it would seem those issues are still lingering to some degree.

The lack of identity that LaVine mentions is also an issue. The Bulls don’t have a go-to game plan on how to succeed on the court on a nightly basis. Some of the changes offensively were out of necessity with starting point guard Lonzo Ball unable to get on the court.

Ball underwent surgery last January for a meniscus injury but has shown little to no improvement. A second surgery before the season provided some optimism but things never progressed to the point a return was possible. He was recently announced out for the remainder of the season, leaving a huge void at the point guard spot the team will attempt to fill with buyout market pickup Patrick Beverley.

With 23 games remaining in the season, there isn’t much time for the Bulls to turn things around. They certainly have their work cut out for them in the last few weeks of the season. Unless a drastic turnaround is made, this is a roster that looks set for some major changes in the offseason.
