In a recent interview, Miles Bridges said he may return to play for Charlotte Hornets in the NBA soon.

“It’s been a long process,” Bridges told The Associated Press on Tuesday night during halftime of Michigan State’s home game against Indiana. “I might be back in March.”

While under investigation by the NBA, Bridges has not played this season. The Los Angeles court sentenced him to three years probation and no jail time for pleading no contest to a felony count of injury to a child’s parent three months ago. Aside from the parenting classes and counseling, Bridges is also required to complete 100 hours of community service.

According to the Los Angeles County district attorney, he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend in front of their two kids in June. The league may take disciplinary action against Bridges.

After spending his first four NBA seasons with the Hornets, the restricted free agent was set to cash in on his career highs of 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists before his future was cast in doubt.

Kupchak, in his remarks earlier this month, offered little insight into the team’s future plans for Bridges.

“The NBA is conducting an investigation and I don’t know when that is going to end,” Kupchak said. “When it ends, we’ll have more information and we’ll go from there. I’ll leave it up to you to decide what kind of impact that had on our team this year.”

Considering the outlook for punishment from the league office, it remains to be seen how long it would take for Bridges to set foot on an NBA floor to play in a game. Regardless, it’s far too late for him to help turn the Hornets’ season around after a 17-43 start.
