There is no way to predict the outcome of any NBA season. It is for this reason that the games are played. 

It is possible that what you expect on paper may not be the case in practice. There is no doubt that the roster of a team is one of the most important factors in determining its success. Despite this, factors such as chemistry as well as sheer luck also play an important role in making a team succeed. 

In the case of the New York Knicks, for example, at this point in the season the team was not expected to be ahead of the Miami Heat in the standings. In spite of that, we find ourselves in this situation. 

As a team, the Knicks have slightly exceeded expectations this season. In contrast, the Heat have been unable to keep up with them.

We wouldn’t be surprised if one or both of these teams decided to make significant changes to their rosters this summer if these trends hold.
