The Milwaukee Bucks are right in the mix to win the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference as they are only a half-game behind the Boston Celtics heading into the NBA All-Star break. However, not everything is positive in Milwaukee as there is some concern over the health of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
In the team’s final game before the break against the Chicago Bulls, Antetokounmpo exited early because of a wrist injury suffered early in the second quarter. Luckily for the Bucks, the initial reports came back positive with x-rays being clean according to head coach Mike Budenholzer.
“We’ll just see how he feels tomorrow, see how he feels the next few days and continue to evaluate it,” Budenholzer said.
Before the injury, Antetokounmpo did set the franchise record for career assists. It is the latest and likely not last record that he will break as he also owns the Bucks’ record for blocks, triple-doubles, free throws made, free throws attempted and minutes played.
“He’s a guy that’s attacking the basket all the time,” Budenholzer said. “He’s fearless. He takes a lot of falls so you kind of learn to just expect him to always just bounce back up, and that’s what we’re hoping for from this one.”
NBA NEWS & ALL-STAR GAME: Giannis Antetokounmpo & Milwaukee Bucks Updates
While the Bucks won’t play again until February 24th against the Miami Heat, attention will now turn toward Antetokounmpo’s availability for All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City. Budenholzer has no idea if the Greek Freak will travel for the game.
Given his importance to the Bucks, the franchise is likely hoping that Antetokounmpo will sit out this week’s festivities. It wasn’t going to be much of a break for him as he was set to coach in the NBA All-Star Weekend Celebrity Game with his brothers Thanasis and Alex. The trio was also set to partake in the Skills Competition during All-Star Weekend Saturday Night.
On Sunday, Giannis was set to be one of the captains for the NBA All-Star Game against LeBron James. It is anyone’s guess if he will be participating in that game, as injuries have hit the All-Star rosters hard.

Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Zion Williamson were all announced out shortly after being named All-Stars. Joel Embiid is also questionable for the game now as he works through a foot issue that has been plaguing him.
