Miami Heat Looking To Shake Up Roster Ahead Of Deadline

Miami Heat, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Miami Heat are one of the biggest winners from the Brooklyn Nets trading Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. They are currently just outside of the NBA Play-In Tournament in the Eastern Conference standings but have a chance to move up with the Nets no longer in contention.

But, if they want to stave off a team such as the New York Knicks, who are only half a game behind them, they are going to have to make some changes to their roster. Miami remains a defensive stalwart, ranking 4th in defensive rating. But, their offense leaves a lot to be desired as they are 26th on that end of the court.

Alas, it takes two to tango and thus far, the Heat have struggled to find a dance partner. One of the players that they are looking to move is Duncan Robinson, but it is looking like a costly venture.

According to Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald, the market for Robinson is virtually zero. He has not played well this season as his shooting stroke has abandoned him, connecting on only 33.1 percent of his 3-point attempts. If his jump shot isn’t falling, Robinson is unplayable given his weaknesses in other areas.

In addition to his struggles while playing, just staying on the court has been a challenge. He is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on his finger. Couple that with his expensive contract, and it should come as no surprise that teams are looking for the Heat to attach multiple first-round picks to Robinson in a trade.

Moving Robinson seems very unlikely at the moment, but the Heat could be finding some momentum toward a Kyle Lowry deal. The team is focused on trade talks centered around Lowry with the LA Clippers, who are desperate to upgrade at the point guard position.

Lowry has also struggled mightily this season. He is having the least productive season of his career since becoming a full-time starter back in 2010 and has played in 44 out of 55 games thus far this season.
