Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

Still, one wonders – would any part of Durant like to change the narrative that he needs a superteam to win big? 

If so, this could be the team for him. The Nets wouldn’t have a superteam following this deal. On the other hand, they would have one of the deepest teams in the National Basketball Association. 

In particular, the defense would be impressive. Durant would have studs like Nic Claxton, Dorrian Finney-Smith and now Anunoby preventing points. The Nets could run jumbo lineups with Durant at the 2 and they’d be absurdly difficult to score on. 

Meanwhile, if it doesn’t work and Durant demands a trade anyway, the Nets can move him for far more draft capital than this. They’ll also have Anunoby.

He’s one of the best 3-and-D wings in the league, and he’s only 25. In other words, this is a win-win deal for Brooklyn.
