How Bucks Could Trade For Suns’ Jae Crowder

How Bucks Could Pull Off Bold Trade For Suns' Jae Crowder

The Phoenix Suns have been working for months on finding a trade centered around Jae Crowder. They are running out of time to pull the trigger on a deal with the NBA trade deadline set for February 9th next week.

While there wasn’t much progress made for months, a step in the right direction toward a resolution was made this week. The Suns have permitted the Milwaukee Bucks to talk to Crowder and his representatives.

The two sides have engaged in trade talks, getting as far as discussing the possibility of a third team getting involved. Right now, it looks like the Bucks are ahead in the Crowder sweepstakes as they are believed to be the only team that was granted permission to speak to him.

Multiple players have been discussed in a potential deal as both teams are motivated to get something done. Over at ESPN, a trade was proposed by Bobby Marks. Crowder would head to Milwaukee with Pat Connaughton and Jordan Nwara heading to the desert.

This would be an interesting deal for each side. The Suns finally move off of Crowder, something they have been waiting to do since the end of September. Connaughton provides them with the upgrade they have been seeking on the wing for their second unit.

The Notre Dame product has struggled with his jumper this season, but he normally provides stellar production on the court. In addition to that, he is locked into an affordable extension that kicks in next season.

Connaughton would help fill the void left by injuries to Devin Booker and Landry Shamet. Nwora provides the Suns with some depth in the frontcourt and another capable 3-point shooter.

The Bucks upgrade the frontcourt behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis with this deal. Crowder brings a lot of similarities to the table as P.J. Tucker did during their run to the NBA Championship in 2021 over the Suns. Milwaukee has not found someone to fill that void since Tucker departed as a free agent following that NBA Finals victory.
