Suns’ Deandre Ayton Dominates In Win vs. Pistons

During the Saturday night NBA slate, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Detroit Pistons 116-100 behind the 31 points and 16 rebounds of Deandre Ayton.

The Suns have now won eight of their last 10 games, including a win at Boston on Friday, and Devin Booker is approaching the return of his career.

Phoenix started each half strong, leading 13-3 in the opening minutes and scoring the first eight points after halftime, to take and keep control against Detroit.

“It was huge because they set the tone,” Pistons coach Dwane Casey said.

Chris Paul had 14 assists but failed to make a field goal, shooting 0 for 7 on the night. Phoenix was led by Mikal Bridges’ 24 points, Cameron Johnson’s 20 points, and Torrey Craig’s 14 points.

“You don’t win eight out of 10 without moving in a good direction, but satisfied is probably not a word that I would ever use,” Williams said.

Right now, the Pistons aiming for the the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft to select transcendent prospect Victor Wembanyama.

In the meantime, Bojan Bogdanovic, who scored 23 points, is getting featured offensively with Cade Cunningham out for the rest of the season. Bogdanovic could be traded before the February 9th deadline.

In addition to Saddiq Bey’s 25 points, Isaiah Stewart tallied 17 points and nine rebounds, while rookie Jaden Ivey scored 13 points.
