Why The Houston Rockets Do The Deal

After all, if they’re just going to use Sengun as the passing hub anyway, wouldn’t Porter Jr. be able to lineup at the one instead? If Porter Jr. is replaced with a player of a similar profile, what is the point of doing so? 

Fair enough. It must also be noted that Porter Jr. and Hyland are not identical players. There is no doubt that Porter Jr. is a better scorer in the pick-and-roll, but Hyland is a more effective off-the-dribble shooter than Porter Jr. 

It just so happens to be the skill that would be a perfect match for Sengun as a hub skill. It is essential that he is able to thrive without the ball if he is going to have the ball in his hands. As far as I’m concerned, that is a more accurate description of Hyland than it is of Porter Jr.

It is also important for Porter Jr. to note that his positional size allows him to play the one through the three. On this roster, there is room for both of them.
