During Wednesday night’s NBA slate, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Golden State Warriors 119-114 after D’Angelo Russell scored 14 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter. Anthony Edwards took over in overtime after Russell fouled out.

In the first minute of overtime, Russell fouled out after two quick whistles. Edwards then took over.

A scoreless fourth quarter followed, but Edwards scored multiple points in traffic on multiple possessions in overtime. Despite trailing by 11 after three, Edwards helped the Timberwolves complete their comeback by scoring just four of his 27 points in overtime. However, he played a key offensive role in overtime.

“We needed it,” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said about Edwards. “It was good to see him get to the paint.”

In addition to Curry’s 29 points, Jordan Poole had 18 points, Klay Thompson had 14, and Draymond Green had 10 points and 12 rebounds. From the third quarter to overtime, Golden State committed nine turnovers. Previously, they had committed eight turnovers.

“We had control of the game, and I thought we just kind of gift wrapped it,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “They took advantage of our mistakes and our lack of execution. … Everything we had done to that point to have control of the game, we stopped doing, so we got what we deserved.”
