Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal 

The Hawks have several good reasons to do this deal. 

For one thing, Collins has been the subject of trade rumors for years. This relationship has to have soured – it’s time to move on. 

Furthermore, Collins has been the subject of those rumors because of his contract. We’re not saying he’s overpaid – we’re simply saying the Hawks wouldn’t mind getting that money off of the books. 

Of course, he’s too good of a player to simply salary dump. Luckily, that’s not what the Hawks are doing here. Gordon is a solid floor spacing veteran who will help this team right now.
