Absolutely not. The reason that shooters fit so well alongside James is that he’s an elite on-ball playmaker.

James can create open shots for himself and his teammates as well as anybody in NBA history. 

Westbrook has a similar skill set. This doesn’t require a math degree, folks. If Hield is a good fit for James, he’s a good fit for Westbrook, too. 

This deal wouldn’t change much about the Lakers’ strategy. They’d continue to stagger James and Westbrook as much as possible.
