In the NBA, market size is supposed to be an advantage. It doesn’t always look that way.
Just ask the New York Knicks. This team plays in the league’s biggest market. Unfortunately, they don’t have a championship to show for it since the 1970s.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers don’t appear to have benefited from playing in a major market, either. Of course, they’ve got an excuse – they share their space with the iconic Los Angeles Lakers.
Yet, both of these big market teams have been trending upward lately. The Clippers have put a group together that, on paper, should be contending for a title.
It’s hard to say the same for the Knicks, but they have been surprisingly competitive this season.Â
Could these two big market teams make a trade?Â
