Brandon Ingram has only appeared in 15 games for the New Orleans Pelicans so far this NBA season. He has been dealing with a big toe injury and has been sidelined for the last two months.

Ingram’s most recent performance occurred on Nov. 25, in the Pelicans’ blowout loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. That is on track to change after tonight’s NBA action.

According to The Athletic, Ingram will return to the Pelicans’ lineup when the team takes on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

“I didn’t think it would take this long,” Ingram said after practice Tuesday. “But I had to listen to my body before I got back on the floor with my teammates and before I got back to playing basketball.”

Ingram explained further: “I feel like I’m a fresher body than everybody else. Everybody beat up. I’ve just had a chance to let my body rest for a little bit and come back off of injury.”

The Pelicans have managed to stay afloat despite Ingram’s lengthy absence, even with Zion Williamson recently being sidelined with an injury of his own. New Orleans holds a 26-22 record, placing them fourth in the Western Conference standings.

Ingram has averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 32.1 minutes per game so far this season. With helpful talents alongside him, he’s been able to produce career-best efficiency.

When the Pelicans manage to get back to full strength, they are gearing up to be a dangerous threat in the Western Conference come playoff time. Ingram is a significant reason for them being a team that nobody wants to face in a seven-game series.
