Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal
Logically, the Clippers must be doing this deal to acquire Martin.
He’s a great, low-usage 3-and-D wing. Granted, the Clippers have plenty of those. That’s fine. It’s an archetype you simply can’t have too many of.
Meanwhile, the downgrade from Jackson to Lowry may not even hurt the Clippers too badly. For starters, Lowry is still effective. Moreover, he may actually suit the Clippers more.
After all, he can’t penetrate like Jackson anymore, but the Clippers wouldn’t need him to do so. This offense runs through Kawhi Leonard and Paul George – all they need Lowry to do is space the floor and make good decisions.

That’s something he’s been doing for his entire NBA career.
