Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal
The Lakers just made a big deal. Should they really make another one?
Sure. Rui Hachhimura was an intriguing acquisition, but he doesn’t do enough to fix this team’s issues. He’s a subpar floor spacer, and he isn’t a good defender.
Hart happens to be strong in both of those areas. He’s a particularly effective stopper. All told, he’s exactly the type of wing this team needs.
Meanwhile, he shouldn’t cost an unprotected first-round pick. By all indications, the Lakers are a little apprehensive about moving their draft capital. This deal protects them against the event that they’re a lottery team by 2027.
