For the Pistons, this is mostly about getting younger. 

After all, Collins is a whopping 8 years younger than Bogey. On the other hand, that doesn’t justify this deal on its own. The Pistons would have to like Collins in order to execute this deal. 

They should. As a combo big who can both roll or pop out of pick-and-roll sets, Collins is an ideal play finisher. With two dynamic young playmakers in their backcourt, that should appeal to the Pistons.

Collins would maximize both Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey.

His ability to man the 5 in small ball looks should make him especially appealing in that regard. That’s a look the Pistons can’t currently rely on – adding Collins would give them some lineup diversity.
