Why The Memphis Grizzlies Do The Deal 

The Grizzlies do this deal to put a final touch on their contending roster. Anunoby could be the perfect touch. 

This is one of the best 3-and-D wings in the NBA. Anunoby can guard the other team’s best player, or create chaos in passing lanes as a free safety. In either event, he’s devastatingly effective. 

Pairing him with Jaren Jackson Jr. should make the Grizzlies’ defense the same. Having Steven Adams in the middle won’t hurt either. Scoring on these Grizzlies would be a chore if they added Anunoby. 

Best of all, they’re adding him at the expense of very little from a win-now perspective. Williams has potential, but as a sophomore, he’s not adding much right now.
