If you’re good at reading between the lines, you’ve probably picked up on some cynicism about this deal on our end.
It’s not that great. The Lakers probably need to make a bigger upgrade. Yet, they won’t be able to do so without moving some of that draft capital.
By all indications, they don’t want to. Majority owner Jeanie Buss is allegedly apprehensive about doing so. If the Lakers insist on keeping their picks, they won’t get much more than Fournier.
Meanwhile, he is a valuable addition. Fournier can create his own shot in a pinch, and space the floor a little.
