Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
The Jazz are only partially doing this deal for draft capital.
Sure, a pair of second-rounders doesn’t hurt. For an aging, defensively limited Mike Conley, it’s solid value.
Still, getting off of Conley’s contract is probably more valuable. After all, he’s aging and defensively limited. Conley could still help a contender, but he doesn’t have a significant future with this Jazz team.
Russell may, and he may not. Either way, he’s on an expiring contract.
