Are you willing to get your hands dirty? How’s your work ethic? Are you the type that’ll do the job that doesn’t get the glory? If so, expect somebody to be happy to employ you if they aren’t already. NBA front offices love a player who does the dirty work.

Of course, they need superstars to contend. Still, role players who focus on defense and rebounding will always have a place in the league.

Take Jarred Vanderbilt of the Utah Jazz. He doesn’t seem slightly concerned with how many points he scores in a game. As long as he plays hard and does his work, he’s happy with himself.

With how Walker Kessler has emerged as a replacement for Rudy Gobert, the Jazz may be thinking about reconfiguring the frontcourt. Lauri Markkanen has already broken out. Wouldn’t it make sense to start Markkanen and Kessler at the four and five?

If the Jazz does reach such a conclusion ahead of the NBA trade deadline, they could benefit from finding a suitor for Vanderbilt.
