The LA Clippers have struggled to stay healthy over the last few NBA seasons. When their core players are available to play, they form an incredibly challenging small ball group around Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to contain.
One of the limitations the Clippers have faced as of late is the need for more depth behind Ivica Zubac in the frontcourt. When he gets into foul trouble or suffers an injury, there must be an established frontcourt option to turn to with the necessary size and length to fill in. Fixing this issue is a priority.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Clippers seek to upgrade their frontcourt depth and are exploring trades involving Wall’s contract to do so.
The Clippers are searching for depth in the frontcourt and have discussed guard John Wall in potential deals, league sources say. Behind Ivica Zubac, the Clippers have relied heavily on two-way big man Moses Brown but have also looked into a more accomplished center.
The Clippers have recently utilized two-way contract signee Moses Brown as a backup center. The 7-foot-2 big man has the size and length for a rim protector, but his lack of foot speed and lateral quickness limits him to being a deep drop coverage big instead of being able to play out in space.

Wall is having a respectable season after sitting out all of 2021-22 while under contract with the Houston Rockets. He is averaging 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 22.2 minutes per game. However, he’s shooting just 30.3 percent from 3-point range. The limitations in that department are noteworthy for a team that likes to go small.
It’s difficult to envision there being a robust trade market for Wall’s services, given his injury history and age (32). If a team with too many frontcourt options needs a guard that can attack the paint and provide energy defensively, that would be the ideal trade partner for the Clippers.
