Perhaps the Lakers do need frontcourt spacing. Still, more broadly, they need to upgrade their roster in whatever way they can. 

Acquiring Bogdanovic would be quite the upgrade. This is a guard who can create shots for himself and his teammates at will. He’ll make this Lakers offense more dynamic. 

He’s also, for what it’s worth, a capable floor spacer. Bogdanovic may not connect from distance with the same consistency as his namesake, but he’s still a reliable weapon beyond the arc. 

Meanwhile, this deal allows the Lakers to protect their pick in the acquisition process.
