The Charlotte Hornets are in the midst of a lost season. It started with LaMelo Ball being sidelined due to injury and the losing spiraled to the point of now holding the worst record in the Eastern Conference standing. They are a team to watch ahead of the NBA trade deadline as a result.

Some veteran players on the Hornets could command interest from teams around the NBA. The focus for their team should be to capitalize on a rebuilding year by adding whatever assets they can ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Hornets are a team that many around the NBA monitor as sellers at the deadline.

The Charlotte Hornets are an organization that many across the league are keeping an eye on as a potential seller as the trade deadline nears. Guard Terry Rozier, center Mason Plumlee and forwards Jalen McDaniels and Kelly Oubre Jr. are among the players expected to receive interest in potential deals.

Rozier is averaging 20.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists through 35 appearances this season. His efficiency still leaves plenty to be desired, as he’s shooting just 41.2 percent from the floor and 32.4 percent from 3-point range. However, in a more fitting role with more naturally efficient responsibilities, there’s a lot to like.

Rozier is playing in the first of a four-year, $96.3 million contract that he is signed to through the 2025-26 season. He currently accounts for 17.38 percent of the league salary cap spending room that the Hornets are allocated.

One notable name that wasn’t included on the list of possible trade candidates that could draw interest around the league is Gordon Hayward. He was signed to be an instrumental part of the Hornets but has struggled to stay healthy for much of his tenure. It would be challenging to find a suitor, given he still has another season remaining on his four-year, $120 million contract.

Jalen McDaniels has become an increasingly talked about trade candidate in recent weeks. The Hornets lack reason to trade him, but he’s certainly not the caliber of player that one would call untouchable if the right offer was presented.
